When installing a Crane HI-6 or other capacitive discharge ignition system, these tachometer adapters create the high-voltage pulse necessary for proper tachometer and fuel-injection computer operation. Tachometer adapters are required for most 1981-95 non-OBD II vehicles when upgrading the ignition system.
