B&M Torque Converters

Higher stall speed is the key.
A higher stall converter allows the vehicle to accelerate better from a dead stop. Strength and durability is an additional benefit if the converter is properly engineered. Furnace brazing is used to strengthen the converter internally for high performance, racing and heavy-duty applications.

What Is Stall Speed?
Stall speed numbers (2000, 2400, 3000 etc) let you know what to expect from the converter. If a 2400 is selected, you should be able to footbrake stall the converter to about 2400 RPM. This should provide anywhere from 500 to 1000 more RPM to launch the vehicle from a dead stop, as compared to the stock converter. This increase should substantially improve your acceleration capability.

  • Race Converter Features
  • Impeller incorporates 4130 chromoly alloy CNC machined thrust plate & is fully furnace brazed, with extra tig tacking at critical points on vanes for extra reinforcement. External anti-balloon plate ties into impeller housing & thrust plate to provide unsurpassed strength with minimal weight.
  • New precision ground heat treated alloy steel impeller hub.
  • Super Duty enclosed bearings between stator & impeller.
  • Super Duty dual race bearings between stator & turbine, & turbine & cover.
  • All Quick 60 units feature fully furnace brazed turbine with extra tig tacking for strength.
  • CNC machined 4130 chromoly alloy steel turbine hub with special bearing pilot.
  • Extreme reinforced cover with super duty tri-bridge drive lugs.
  • Steel stator available for supercharged & nitrous applications (10" models only).

Street and Power Adder Converters

  • Furnace brazed impeller
  • New precision steel alloy pump drive tube
  • New heavy duty needle bearing between stator and impeller
  • New turbine hub
  • New springs and rollers in stators

Nitrous engines produce some serious horsepower and require a serious torque converter to handle it. The newest line of street performance converters from B&M is the Nitrous Holeshot series. Built with the same features as the other B&M Holeshots with the addition of anti-balloon plates. The anti-balloon plates will allow these converters to stand up to the instant horsepower nitrous delivers. Converters with higher than stock stall speed will allow the vehicle to accelerate better from a dead stop and it will allow the vehicle to idle better when a big cam is used. The Holeshot is a good choice for the typical street machine, however when nitrous is used the Nitrous Holeshot is your only real choice. The Nitrous HoleShot is fully furnace brazed, and has heavy duty needle bearing thrust packages and new turbine hubs, which are key features along with anti-balloon plates. These are serious converters for the serious street performance car.

  • For small and big blocks
  • Anti-balloon plate
  • For serious performance applications
  • Furnace brazed and fully balanced
